St Ethelwold’s VA School recently became aware of the Mold based charity ‘Share’ which is set up to support the homeless and to assist refugees worldwide. One of the charity’s aims is to assist refugees who, because of war and unrest in their own countries, have become displaced and homeless, often ending up in refugee camps far away from home. These refugees are very often children without their parents.
Our school has donated tables and chairs which were no longer needed by us, but which will be very gratefully received by by the children and staff in the temporary school rooms set up in the camps.
Share volunteer driver Charlie Cordrey, who came to collect the furniture said, ‘I’ve been to the refugee camps myself and seen with my own eyes how this kind of donation can change lives – the tables and chairs which you have donated will be stored in Warrington and then a container is being shipped out in September.’
The donated items will be delivered to camps in the Greek Islands of Leros and Idomeni.
The charity is also collecting winter clothes for refugees. If you have any unwanted winter clothes, you can bring them to school and we will pass them on to Share
