Some of our Year 5's spent the morning at Hawarden High School for a CSI and science session. The pupils were tasked with finding out who poisoned the victim by analysing hair samples and footprints as well as using chromatography and indicator chemicals.
The 2nd part of the session saw the pupils explore Christmas Science!
They made Christmas trees under the microscope using a chemical reaction to copper, turned 2p pieces silver and then gold with zinc, electricity and then the bunsen burners and found the optimum mass to pop a party popper.
It was a great morning and a fantastic introduction to High School learning for the pupils.
The school vision at St Ethelwold's VA School is to: "Be The Best You Can" "Bwddwch eich gorau". This vision cascades throughout the fabric of the school and is central to the work of the school. The school community believes that a strong commitment to effort will lead to high standards of attainment and achievement and also to the important life skills of perseverance and resilience. Effort will be both reported on and rewarded.
